SureSmile Clear Aligners – Orthodontic Treatment
The state of your oral health is visually apparent through the appearance of your smile. For some people, a smile can indicate good dental health, while for others, it may reveal that their smile needs improvement. At Mint Dental, Dr. Kevin Pulsipher offers SureSmile clear aligners for patients with teeth that are misaligned, crooked, gapped, or exhibit other bite issues. Our goal is for you to enjoy the advantages of having a perfectly straight and aligned smile. SureSmile is a reliable orthodontic treatment that employs clear aligners to move your teeth into the correct position in a way that is both efficient and discreet.
Why Are Straight Teeth Important?
Having straight teeth is about more than just having an attractive smile. There are several reasons why straight teeth are important to your oral health. Straight teeth are easier to brush, floss, and keep clean, reducing your risk for oral diseases like decay and gum disease. Crooked teeth can often trap food particles that are difficult to remove with brushing and flossing. However, straight and properly aligned teeth can improve overall oral hygiene. Fixing your bite can also prevent issues like uneven wear or TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder).
How SureSmile Works
When you visit our office to begin the SureSmile treatment process, you will be taken through several steps, which include:
- Taking digital images of your teeth. These images will be used to create a three-dimensional model of your teeth. This model will be used to analyze your bite from all the necessary angles.
- This same three-dimensional model will be sent to our SureSmile software, which will map the projected desired movement of each tooth.
- We will fine-tune the details of your customized treatment plan.
- All information acquired during your appointment will be sent to the SureSmile lab, where your clear aligners will be made. Once this is complete, we will receive your clear aligners, and you will return to pick them up.

FAQs
What are SureSmile Clear Aligners?
Dr. Kevin Pulsipher of Mint Dental describes SureSmile Clear Aligners as a series of custom-made transparent orthodontic devices designed to adjust and align your teeth over time. They offer a less noticeable alternative to traditional braces, allowing patients to feel confident while undergoing treatment for a straighter smile!
Who is a suitable candidate for SureSmile?
While the suitability of SureSmile Clear Aligners can only be determined by a dental professional, they are generally recommended for individuals with mild to moderate crowding or spacing issues. They are typically not recommended for severe orthodontic issues.
How long does the treatment with SureSmile Clear Aligners take?
Treatment time with SureSmile Clear Aligners varies from case to case. However, the average treatment time is usually 6-15 months, depending upon the complexity of the case and patient compliance.
Can I eat and drink with my SureSmile Clear Aligners in?
It is recommended that you remove your SureSmile Clear Aligners while eating or drinking anything other than water. This is to prevent damage to the aligners and keep them clean.
Are SureSmile Clear Aligners comfortable to wear?
SureSmile Clear Aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth, so they are generally comfortable to wear. But do note that some discomfort might be experienced initially as your teeth start to shift when a new set of aligners is used.
What is the first step?
We will take a few photos and a digital scan of your teeth to put together a customized treatment plan for you.
Will my insurance pay for the clear aligner orthodontics?
Dental insurance will often cover a portion of the cost, but it depends on the specifics of each insurance plan.
Do I have to wear retainers after completion of clear aligner orthodontics?
Yes. It is necessary to wear retainers so that the teeth will not move back to their original position.
