Restore Your Smile’s Function, Health, and Aesthetics with Natural-looking Dental Bridges

At Mint Dental, we understand your smile is more than the looks — your smile affects how you feel and function. So, when you have a missing tooth (teeth), we can’t wait to cover the gap with a dental bridge to restore the function and appearance of your smile. Whether you are missing one or multiple teeth, don’t settle for a “gappy” smile. Instead, book an appointment with Dr. Kevin Pulsipher to treat your tooth loss with life-looking dental bridges.

Dental bridges explained

A traditional dental bridge comprises artificial teeth (pontics) supported on either side with healthy teeth (abutments). We install dental crowns on these abutment teeth to strengthen them and provide a stable foundation for the bridgework.

Besides traditional bridges, you can opt for a cantilever bridge. This bridge type is similar to a conventional bride, only that it’s secured to one abutment tooth. Sometimes, you don’t always need to secure your bridge with crowns. Maryland bridges are attached by a metal framework bonded to the back of your healthy teeth. However, since these bridges aren’t so strong, they’re ideal for front teeth because they are less involved in chewing and grinding.

Most patients prefer implant-supported bridges. These bridges are secured by an implant anchored in your jawbone. Implant bridges are more secure and prevent jawbone degeneration.

The dental bridges procedure: What to expect

Once Dr. Pulsipher determines you are eligible for dental bridges, we will start preparing the abutment teeth. We recontour these teeth by removing a portion of the enamel to create space for crowns. Next, we take your bite impressions to be used by a lab technician to craft your custom bridge and crowns. Before you go, your dentist will install a temporary bridge to protect your prepared teeth.

During your second visit, we’ll replace your provisional bridge with the permanent one. We’ll make the necessary adjustments to your bridge for a proper fit and then use dental cement to bond your bridge to your teeth.

After that, you’ll make a few follow-up visits with us to adjust your bridge until your bite feels natural. Once your bridge settles in place, you can eat and smile confidently without feeling like your teeth are a replacement!

Dental Bridges

A bridge is a non-surgical way to replace one or many teeth. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as anchors to support the missing tooth or teeth. With today’s dental advancements, a bridge can be fabricated in a fairly short period of time, using a metal or nonmetal foundation. Don’t let that missing tooth affect the way you speak, eat, and smile. Bridges yield immediate results that last a lifetime. Ask your dentist what type of bridge may be right for you.
